Milestone Banners

We love to recognise the amazing achievements of our players. At Ivanhoe Junior Football Club, we celebrate 50 and 100 career game milestones - and sometimes even 150!

Parents are welcome to organise game day banners to celebrate these milestones. Below are some handy tips.

  • We try our best to keep track of games by player, and will try to reach out to parents to let you know of upcoming milestones. However you can also check games yourself on PlayHQ.:

    • Select Ivanhoe JFC, select this season, select your team, select any game, and then click on your player’s name in the line-up. Here you will find your players statistics including games played

  • Before you organise a banner, check if other players from your team are celebrating a milestone on the same day, so you can have a joint banner

  • You can order a banner through a company such as one of the below. The below companies should have our club logo artwork on file:

  • Or you can make your own banner - see below for some instructions

  • Wooden posts to use for the banner are available to borrow from the clubroom at Ivanhoe Park

Instructions:

  • Roll each packet of crepe paper out to the desired length

  • Lay crepe paper lengths side by side, overlapping slightly

  • Use 3 whole lengths of crepe paper to make a background for your message

  • Run tape down each vertical end of the banner to keep all lengths together

  • Place 20cm tape lengths across the banner along each seam where crepe paper overlaps (leave 20cm gaps so that the players can run through the banner)

  • Carefully turnover and tape down each vertical end of the banner again

  • Fold both short ends in by 10cm and tape down exposed edge to create pockets for poles

  • Place your letters on the banner and space as you like

  • Glue each letter in place

  • On game day, insert poles into place, tape banner to the poles and then carefully roll up for transportation
