IJFC VALUES
Club Values
At Ivanhoe JFC, we uphold a set of core values that guide our actions, decisions, and interactions within the club community. These values are the foundation of who we are and what we stand for:
Inclusivity: We welcome and respect all players, families, and supporters, fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and included regardless of their background, skill level, or abilities.
Sportsmanship: We prioritise fair play, integrity, and respect for opponents, umpires, coaches, and teammates, emphasising that how we play is just as important as winning.
Development: We are dedicated to the growth and development of our young athletes, both on and off the field, nurturing their skills, character, and self-confidence.
Teamwork: We emphasise the importance of collaboration, communication, and unity, recognising that success is achieved through collective effort rather than individual prowess.
Fun and Enjoyment: We strive to create an enjoyable and positive experience for all participants, ensuring that the love of the sport remains at the heart of what we do.
Community: We actively engage with and contribute to the local community, fostering strong bonds and a sense of belonging among our members.
Respect: We treat others with kindness, empathy, and dignity, valuing the diversity of our club's community and upholding the highest standards of behaviour.
These values define who we are as a junior sporting club and shape our vision for nurturing young athletes into well-rounded individuals, instilling life skills, and fostering a lifelong love for sports.
Player Values
Respect - umpires, opponents, teammates, coaches, parents and spectators, & facilities
Train with purpose - same intensity as game day – take the ‘I’m in’ pledge
Play fair, no foul - no language; no fighting – ever; don’t be the provocateur and don’t get sucked in
Always be positive - only give constructive feedback to teammates; never abuse or put a teammate down for an error
Everyone is a leader - maintain standards – during games and at training; hold each other to account
Play for the jumper not the number - do the team thing – be selfless not selfish
Celebrate - not just wins but the little things; a first goal, a tackle, a smoother
Stay humble - sweep the changerooms; pick up the cones; fill the drink bottles; help each other and the coaches
Focus on effort not outcome
Be inclusive not exclusive - no favourites, no cliques – everyone belongs and everyone is equal
